Electricity is one of the most important features in our homes that grants us to the ability to live our day-to-day lives in a comfortable, efficient way. This intricate system that powers our lives, comes with great responsibility. Statistics will show that there are a unique set of threats that come with dealing with the electric system in your home or business. While electricity can be dangerous, there are a few simple things you can do to prevent serious injury to you, your families, or your workers. While it is our job to provide the best electrical care in the Columbia area, it is also our job to ensure that our customers are safe. Our team of trusted, licensed electricians put safety first when providing your electrical needs.

Carbon Monoxide & Smoke Detector Installation
Sometimes what you don’t know can’t hurt you, but that isn’t the case when it comes to carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. These are the first line of defense in alerting you and your family to a potential problem. Protecting and serving your family is part of your job, let us help you in doing so by setting up your home detectors today.
Child Proof Outlets
We all know how curious our kids can be, and while this is an enjoyable part of their childhood, it’s important to keep them safe. Using child-proof outlets is one of the most important steps you can take to prepare your home for children. Child-proof, tamper-resistant outlets restrict access to the part of the outlet that conveys electricity. Look for “tamper resistant” or “TR” on the outlet to ensure it’s safe for your child. Our electricians can ensure a safe space for your little ones.
Circuit Breaker Replacement
Typically, our circuit breakers should last us between 30-40 years and are designed to reset themselves. However, in the case of a damaged one, it’s important to know how to be cautious around it. Our professionals are always ready to help and answer your questions, but there are a couple tips to keep yourself safe in the meantime. First, always make sure your area is well light and clear. Keep your panel information up to date with a breaker directory, and label the circuit breaker on the inside of each outlet in correspondence. If at any point the circuit breaker becomes warm or looks abnormal, call one of our team members for assistance.
Dedicated Computer Circuits
Computer circuits are dedicated breakers intended only for the use of your computer systems. If your dedicated circuit system is not appropriate for the size of your circuit system, it can result in overheating, melting, and possibly a fire. Contact one of our team members to ensure that your dedicated computer circuit is properly fitted for your system, or if you suspect any issues.
Electrical Code Updates
Electrical codes are the regulations of electrical safety, design, and installation of wiring that are updated every three years. Keeping your system up to date is not only lawful, but is integral in keeping your home, business, or building safe. You can check the National Electrical Code® to ensure yours is up to date. Be sure to contact us if you are unsure if yours is up to date, or if you need changes.
Electrical Safety Inspection Services
Keeping your electrical equipment and system up to date is one of the most important things you can do to ensure safety. Getting your system checked every 2-5 years is recommended, but can change due to the size, complexity, and age of your system. Our team is specialized in these checks, and would be more than happy to ensure your electrical system is looking good.
GFCI Outlet Installation and Replacement
A GFCI outlet monitors the electrical currents moving through a circuit. If there is an issue where power is moving where it shouldn’t be, the GFCI cuts off the electricity. The GFCI has a vital role in ensuring safety by preventing electrical shocks, so if yours is broken or working improperly, give us a call immediately to fix the issue. Some consumers can fix this issue themselves, but it is always a good idea to have a professional technician take a look.
Home Wiring Updates
Did you know that faulty wiring is one of the leading causes of residential fires? No need to worry. Our team of professional technicians will ensure that your home and business wiring are up to date. Many make the mistake of assuming all is good if lighting and appliances are operating properly. However, if your home is older, or hasn’t been keeping up with the electrical codes, it can be time for a check.
Service Panel Upgrades
Your service panel is one of the controllers of the energy and electricity flowing in and out of your house. Making sure they are up to date will ensure the most orderly flow of electricity, making your devices, appliances, and overall spaces best suited for your home. Let our team of technicians evaluate and upgrade your service panel today.

Whole House Surge Protection Installation
Is your house protected from power surges? Poor infrastructure, power grid distribution, severe weather and more can result in a power surge that can wipe out all of your essential appliances. Save yourself the trouble and invest in a whole house surge protector. It can provide protection against surges entering your home circuit, keeping all of your motors, lights, outlets, and more safe. Call one of our certified technicians today to protect your home and appliances.
Why is Whole House Surge Protection important?
Whole House Surge Protection reduces surges that might otherwise overwhelm plug strips and damage connected household equipment. It also provides surge suppression for important items that are not compatible with plug strips such as HVAC equipment, washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, and lighting. It is estimated that modern homes have up to $15,000 worth of electronics. Surges can degrade or damage your electronics, shortening their life.
Frequently Asked Questions
While we try to be as efficient as we can be, how long you will be out of power will be dependent on several factors. A few of them include but are not limited to the type of service being provided, your city’s power company hours, and local codes. However, you will never be without power overnight, or when our team is not currently at work. For certain jobs, we will provide a generator while we work to ensure your AC cooling system is still running. These questions can be answered by your sales representative during your initial evaluation. We have a provided chart of the most frequent services and the average time your home will be out of power.
|Type of Service||How Long Power Will Be Off|
|Rewiring||Not without power|
|Changing Weather Mast Pole||4 Hours|
|Panel Change||1 Day|
|Removing Panel – Same Spot||1 Day|
|Removing Panel – Different Spot||2-3 Days|
For the majority of our services, holes will have to be cut into the walls. While we avoid this when we can, in the case we need to, we always try to cut stud to stud for the easiest replacement. When cuts are made, we are not responsible for sheetrock repair but will recommend our partner company Punch List Pros to replace and rework any cuts made.
We offer a one year warranty for our services provided. For a specific part warranty, we follow the manufacturer warranty. Be sure to ask your technician or refer to the manufacturer website for further information.
If your home is equipped with a Federal Pacific Electric (FPE), you do run a risk of a breaker malfunction and fire. Due to its hazards it has not been operating as a company for many years. In the case that your home does have one, please call or inquire us to make sure it is running properly and that it meets all current safety standards.
Depending on the job at hand, our typical services can last from 1 day to 1-1 ½ weeks. During your home and service evaluation, your sales representative will give you a more accurate estimate of how long your home service will take.
Upon your initial evaluation, your sales representative will evaluate your needs and be able to recommend a time for when you can be serviced. There will be circumstances such as small troubleshooting issues that can be fixed the same day by your sales representative, but the majority of work and jobs will be scheduled after the initial evaluation.
